Safe Space Counseling

MY TREATMENT FOCUS: RELATIONAL THERAPY
My goal is to provide couples, individuals, and families with beyond exceptional care and therapeutic solutions in dealing with their mental health and relational issues. I want to help my clients heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. This is achieved by providing a neutral, safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan that works for you. My intensive training and unique experiences enable me to offer elite, outpatient, individualized, psychological care. I treat several mental health disorders, and specialize in Sex Therapy, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.
I operate from a relational point of view, meaning I believe every single relationship we have - whether romantic, friendship, or familial - influences us. We can better understand ourselves by thinking about the role these relationships play in our current behavior and beliefs. We do not grow up in a petri dish away from others, it is our interactions and human connection which aids us in identifying different parts of ourselves. These parts can offer us the change, growth, support, and healing we often need.

-
How do I make an appointment?Just click the “Request an Appointment” button and use our online scheduler to view my availability and schedule your first session.
-
How do virtual sessions work? Each session is between 50-55 minutes long and is held online via the HIPAA approved telehealth platform Simple Practice. In-person sessions are not currently offered but hope to be soon.
-
Do I need to download Simple Practice? It depends. If you are using your phone to attend the session, then you will have to download the Simple Practice Telehealth App in order to sign in. But, if you are using your computer to attend the session, then you simply click the link in your Reminder Email and enter in your name and email address to enter the session.
-
Is the information shared in session confidential?YES! All information (except for safety concerns) are confidential and will not be shared with any person or organization without your written consent. The situations in which confidentiality needs to be broken legally, include but are not limited to, (a) when a Client makes a serious threat of violence towards a reasonably identifiable victim, (b) when a Client is a danger to him/herself or to the person or property of another, (c) when a Client shares any instance of current or past child abuse, mental suffering, or neglect towards minors or if I reasonably suspect such, or (d) when a Client shares knowledge of an incident that reasonably appears to be physical abuse, abandonment, abduction, isolation, financial abuse or neglect of an elder or dependent adult, or if I am told by an elder or dependent adult that he or she has experienced these or if I reasonably suspect such.
-
How long does counseling typically last? This depends on the issues you are coming in for and will be discussed in our first session together. Short-term counseling can be anywhere from 10-14 sessions, while long-term counseling can last for 6months to a year. Total time spent in counseling can vary and change as a client’s/couple’s needs change.
-
How often do we have session?I like to begin with meeting couples and individuals once a week. However, I understand that this may not feasible for various reasons and so am flexible in the number of times we meet a month based on your needs and scheduling.
-
Do you accept insurance? No, I do not accept insurance currently but do accept all major credit and debit cards. HSA/FSA cards are also accepted.
-
Do you offer private-pay packages? There are packages available for the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy treatment only.
-
What is the cancellation policy? All sessions must be cancelled at least 48 hours ahead of the appointment time. Ex: your session is at 12:30pm on a Monday, the latest you can cancel is Saturday before 12:30pm. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to the session fee.
-
How do couples sessions work?Couple’s sessions I offer are structured differently than many therapists. I will usually meet with the couple together for the intake, separately for further assessment, and then together again thereafter. The reason for this is that I believe a couple is made up of two individual beings who have had their own experiences before making mindful and purposeful decisions to be together. So, getting to know each partner as an individual is as important as getting to know their relationship dynamics in creating long-lasting therapeutic change.
-
What if I don't feel comfortable having session with my partner? Do you see couples separately?Yes, as part of couples therapy I give each partner the space to openly share their issues, relational history, and problems in the relationship in their own perspective as part of the assessment phase in the form of at least one individual session. This time is also used to help provide a safe space for one or both partners to bring up sensitive topics with me that they may not be comfortable to share with their partner yet, i.e., infidelity, intimacy issues.
-
Do I have to be in the same location as my partner for a session? No, you do not. As long as one of you are physically present in the state of California at the time of the appointment the other can be anywhere else they feel comfortable meeting.
-
What happens after the session?Depending on the issues at hand and the preference of the client, I may assign some “homework” to be worked on between sessions. This will be discussed at the following session and so on and so forth. Not everyone is assigned homework so don’t worry if that’s not your thing!
-
Do you see children / teenagers?I currently only work with adults and adult families but can refer other colleagues to you in the field who will meet your needs.
