A Little About Myself
I have been told I have an immense power of calmness that helps my clients feel comfortable. I intentionally save space for individuals to unpack and process thoughts, feelings, and emotions without judgment.
I am a Veteran. I served in the US Air Force after for 8 years as a respiratory therapist. I have been working in field of behavioral and mental health for approximately 7 years. As a Veteran, I had to learn how to Live in Peace (L.I.P.) after working so closely with death and clients who passed on to Rest In Peace (R.I.P.). I am big on psychoeducation and skill-building in therapy to help individuals better understand how thoughts, feelings, and emotions impact our internal and external world to connect to appropriate solutions and coping strategies.
Me, As Your Therapist
I have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of youth and adult populations via individual, group, marriage, and family therapy. As a native of New Orleans, our culture of resilience and creativity has stuck with me throughout my military service, respiratory therapist career, educational career, marriage, motherhood, and psychotherapy.
I love working with clients who are ready to put in the work to make positive lifestyle changes. My clients often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and even hopeless. I help you better understand how emotional and mental symptoms interfere with healthy functioning. I also help you understand the why behind your specific emotions and reactions.
I strive to provide you with safety and calmness so you can feel comfortable when unpackingand processing experiences. I also provide psychoeducation to improve understanding and skill-building to compensate for perceived deficiencies in yourself or your relationship.
I use CBT, DBT, ACT, and REBT to care for individuals and couples by providing psychoeducation, assessing issues, discussing challenges, creating therapy goals, and buildingskills to either accept things we cannot change and/or change the things we can to help you improve your mental health.
Together, we foster the power of ‘yet’, the ability to reach mastery through commitment and practice.
